What is Mahamrityunjaya Puja Ritual?
The Mahamrityunjaya Anushthan Puja in Ujjain is a special ritual dedicated to seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva, also known as Bholenath. The name “Mahamrityunjaya” is a Sanskrit word composed of three parts: “Maha” means “great”, “mrity” means “death”, and “jaya” means “victory”. Therefore, it is often translated as the “great death-victory” mantra.
During this puja, people pray to Lord Shiva to bring back youth and happiness in their lives. They also wish for good health, wealth, and longevity.
The Pandit ji performs Jaap (chanting) during Mahamrityunjaya Puja in Ujjain. This puja is usually performed after other rituals like Kalash Navgraha Puja and Gauri Ganesh Puja. It is believed that offering this prayer at holy places like Kashi, Ujjain or Trimbakeshwar brings many blessings to the devotee.
